This is how Liverpool fans greeted the team bus outside Anfield

Judging by these incredible scenes captured by Alberto Moreno on board the Liverpool team bus, you would be forgiven for thinking that the Anfield side had just won the Europa League. But no, this is just the atmosphere Liverpool fans produced as their side arrived for their quarter-final clash with Borussia Dortmund on Thursday evening.

Following Liverpool’s incredible 4-3 win over the German side, you would imagine the crowd was even more vociferous as the team bus left Anfield.

Fighting for a place in the semi-finals of the Europa League, Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund produced a thrilling night of football at Anfield on Thursday evening.

Having raced to a two goal lead within just 10 minutes, Dortmund looked like they had silenced the Anfield crowd and killed off the tie. However, a resurgent Liverpool clawed their way back after goals from Origi and Coutinho, before centre back pairing Sakho and Lovren completed an incredible turn around.

Liverpool are well versed when it comes to famous comebacks on European nights, just ask the likes of Olympiakos and AC Milan. They can now add Dortmund to that list, following a miraculous recovery, after going two goals down inside 10 minutes in the second leg of their Europa League tie on Thursday evening.

Dejan Lovren turned out to be the surprise hero after powering home a commanding header to make the score 4-3 sending Liverpool into the Europa League semi-finals as Anfield erupted in celebrations.

After pegging back Wolfsburg’s two goal lead from the first leg with a brace inside a couple of minutes, You just sensed it was only a matter of time before Cristiano Ronaldo finished the job off with a hat-trick.

And in the 80th minute, Ronaldo didn’t disappoint. From a good 25 yards out Ronaldo fired home an awkward bouncing free kick to seal Real Madrid’s progress into the semi-finals of the Champions League.
