After 878 minutes without a goal and criticism at times bordering on the hysterical, Wayne Rooney can finally breath a sigh of relief after bagging a composed hat-trick in Manchester United’s 2nd leg Champions League qualifier in Belgium.
Rooney got off the mark when Memphis Depay slipped in his captain with a delicious ball on 20 minutes. A drop of the shoulder, and suddenly Rooney’s proficiency in front of goal came flooding back.
Depay, so good he can get a goal out of Rooney.

After the restart Rooney doubled his and United’s tally with another well taken goal after this time being teed up by the returning Ander Herrera.

Herrera would go on to make it Club Brugge 0-4 Manchester United on the night and 7-1 on aggregate. United now advance to the Champions League group stage draw.
