Luis Suárez is close to sealing his preferred move to Barcelona after the Catalan club held a “productive” first meeting with Liverpool and offered around £70m for the controversial forward.
Barcelona’s determination to clinch a deal for the Uruguayan was confirmed during talks between their director of football management, Raul Sanllehi, and Liverpool’s chief executive, Ian Ayre, in London on Wednesday. Rather than seek a drastically reduced fee for a player banned for four months for biting the Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup, Sanllehi’s opening bid was in the region of £70m.

Ryan Gauld completes Sporting Lisbon transfer with €60m buy-out clause
The Scotland Under-21 international midfielder Ryan Gauld, nicknamed “Baby-Messi” by team-mates, has completed a remarkable transfer from Dundee United to Sporting Lisbon for an undisclosed fee.
The 5ft 6in 18-year-old, who made his United debut in May 2012, has agreed a six-year deal with the Portuguese club, with the contract including a €60m buy-out clause.

After Hollands win over Mexico which was sealed by Arjen Robben winning a controversial penalty in extra time, this disgruntled US fan decided to let the flying winger know just what he thought of his antics. Unfortunately for him, it was a bemused Robin van Persie leaving in the car, and not Arjen Robben.

Julian Green’s superb finish vs Belgium
19 year old Julian Green pulls one back for the US during their defeat to Belgium. The tie looked to have been settled in extra time thanks to two goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku. However, Green’s goal sent the nerves jangling through the Belgium back line, but they managed to survive several late scares and progressed to the next round.
