Disgraceful dive during Hearts vs Hamilton goes completely unpunished

The diving epidemic, which has plagued football for many, many years reached new lows during Hearts 4-0 win over Hamilton on Saturday.

With his team already 3-0 goals to the good, the perpetrator stretched for a ball he had no right going for in the first place, and then proceeded to go down in installments, before getting a helping hand from a team-mate. A shameful passage of play which completely conned the referee.

This is surely yet more evidence calling for video replays to be introduced to finally stamp out diving.

Watch the disgrace dive in the shocking footage below.

  • Wexit campaigners proving far noisier than Wemainers

Wexit campaigners proving far noisier than Wemainers

In what could prove to be a decisive turning point of the Wenger debate, Wenger out campaigners, Wexiteers, have taken to the streets to loudly shove their message down the throats of anybody unfortunate to be passing by.

Previously, Wexiteers had been content with moaning on fan Youtube channels, but a rabble of disillusioned Weixteers marched ahead of Arsenal’s FA Cup quarter final against Lincoln, armed with protest banners demanding they “take back control” of their club.

“It’s never your fault, it’s never your fault, Arsene Wenger, it’s never your fault” mocked Wexiteers as they made the strenuous walk from the pub to the ground. Though, realising Wenger might mistakenly see that as support, the Wexiteers promptly switched to the less subtle “We want Wenger out” chant.

In the Wemainers campaign, which has almost been completely silent, there is now a genuine sense of fear that their message – stronger, safer and better off with Wenger – is being drowned out by the vociferous Wexiteers.

Supporters from both campaigns will have to wait until the summer to see if there will be a Wenger exit. The divisive debate that has gripped the club will likely come down to one key issue: Will Arsenal continue to have access to Europe?

Watch the Wexiteers protest in the below videos.

  • Wenger already has the perfect replacement for Alexis Sanchez

Wenger already has the perfect replacement for Alexis Sanchez

With Alexis Sanchez’ future at Arsenal cast into doubt following a dressing room bust up with team mates, manager Arsene Wenger has moved swiftly to calm fears amongst Arsenal fans after revealing he already has a ready made replacement should Sanchez decide to leave the North London club.

Wenger, always a fan of youth and promoting from within, proved once again that ferocious talent is far from extinct amongst his squad.

Though Wenger’s replacement might surprise some Arsenal fans, the powerful forward might just have that killer instinct they’ve so sorely needed in recent times.

Watch exclusive footage of Wenger’s replacement for Alexis Sanchez below.

  • Warning: Never take betting tips from Paul Merson

Warning: Never take betting tips from Paul Merson

Bungling TV pundit Paul Merson was on fine form over the weekend when he gazed into his crystal ball and made predictions for three FA Cup ties.

Merson, with brazen confidence picked Everton, Stoke and Bournemouth to all gain victories and progress into the next round. However, as you can see in the video below, if you had taken up Merse on his expert tips you’d have been left with a return of precisely zero.

If there is anything to learn from this, it is to bet against Merson rather than with him. Considered yourselves warned.

  • Emre Can given the wet willy treatment against Plymouth

Emre Can given the wet willy treatment against Plymouth

How do you say wet willy in German? If, as is very likely, Emre Can’s English classes failed to cover that very particular phrase, he was likely blurting it out at the referee in his native tongue, after being on the receiving end of one at Anfield on Sunday during Liverpool’s FA Cup tie against Plymouth.

Facing a team three tiers higher in England’s football pyramid, Plymouth’s Sonny Bradley sort to try and put Liverpool off their game, making inroads with his index finger rather than with the ball at his feet, much to Emre Can’s dismay.

And the German’s ear would prove to be the only thing penetrated as Plymouth remarkably held on for a 0-0 draw, earning a much deserved replay at Home Park in just over a weeks time.

Next time round, I’d recommend Emre Can comes armed with ear plugs.

  • Killjoy ball boy expertly ruins Tim Cahill’s goal celebration

Killjoy ball boy expertly ruins Tim Cahill’s goal celebration

Ball boys, when they’re not taking a shoeing from Eden Hazard or nutmegging poor old Robert Green, you can guarantee they are carefully plotting their next move on an unsuspecting victim, egged on by their “peers” in the stands behind them.

Step up Tim Cahill, the latest to feel the ball boys’ wrath. Cahill, back in his native Australia, scored one of his trademark headers during a 2-2 draw between Melbourne City and Central Coast Mariners on New Year’s Eve. As expected, Cahill followed up his trademark header by running to the corner flag to do his trademark goal celebration – laying into the corner flag with a few combination punches. Or, at least he tried. You see, the ball boy had other ideas, promptly pulling out the corner flag from the ground before Cahill could land a single punch.

    Cold blooded, plain and simple.

I’d give the ball boy a solid 7 out of 10 for his party pooping efforts. However, for the gold standard of ball boy contempt he has a long way to go before he can match Cristiano Ronaldo’s ball boy nemesis.

  • Commentators in 21 languages losing their minds over that Olivier Giroud goal

Commentators in 21 languages losing their minds over that Olivier Giroud goal

At the Emirates on Sunday Olivier Giroud scored what will surely be the goal of the year. The Frenchmen was obviously very keen to get his contender in early doors, producing his sensational strike on day one of 2017 while the rest of us were rubbing our heads in both disbelief and new years eve inflicted pain.

If like me you have watched Giroud’s outrageous scorpion kick goal about a thousand times already and you still haven’t grown tired of it, then you are in luck as some thoughtful person on the interwebs has threaded together the commentary of the goal in 21 different languages.

The French one is a particular highlight. “Magnifique!”

If that still hasn’t satisfied you, here is Giroud’s goal captured from the stands.

Oh, and for the record, for me Giroud’s goal was clearly better than Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s. Extra points for kissing the bar on the way in.

  • Pep and Klopp look like they’re ready to murder someone

Pep and Klopp look like they’re ready to murder someone

For the football manager, the Christmas and New Years period is less about being forced to spend time with family, wearing ugly jumpers and recovering from hangovers, and more about squeezing in as many games of football as possible, in what seems like an impossible schedule. An environment that seems purpose built to get managers fretting much like a turkey on the 24th of December.

After their respective games against Burnley and Sunderland on Monday, Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp gave some extremely tetchy and awkward interviews. Managers tend do a terrible job of covering up their utter contempt for the post-match interview but in both these instances Klopp, and particularly Guardiola, looked like they were ready to pounce on their interrogators.

It’s hard to recall seeing a more visibly irritated Guardiola during a post-match interview than the one seen in the footage below following Manchester City’s 2-1 win over Burnley.

Pep’s anger seemed to stem from the questioning around Fernandinho’s indiscipline having been sent off for a third time in six games, and then climaxed when the interviewer claimed he didn’t look happy even though his team had one. “More than you believe, I am happy. I’m so happy” sniffed Pep, before adding pretty much the most resentful sounding happy new year message, and ducking out of the interview.

Not to be outdone, the normally smiley Klopp laid on the sarcasm extra thick when he had to explain for a second time his thoughts on Sunderland’s awarding of a second penalty during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw at the Stadium of light.

Interviewers, consider yourselves on notice until Klopp and Pep have had chance to simmer down a little. Probably around the time the supply of left over turkey sandwiches has been exhausted.

  • Karamoko Dembele: The next Messi or the next Freddy Adu?

Karamoko Dembele: The next Messi or the next Freddy Adu?

Freddy Adu, Cherno Samba, Sonny Pike, Tonton Zola Moukoko. If those names are familiar to you, it’s likely because of one unified reason: They were all touted as the next best young thing to strut their stuff on a football pitch but ultimately never came close to living up to the hype. Unless that is, you were playing Football Manager. Then Cherno Samba would have been getting all the headlines.

Step up Karamoko Dembele, the latest teenage prodigy to be hyped up to dizzying heights before he’s barely had a chance to come up with excuses for not doing his homework.

Having made a splash a couple of weeks back when the 13-year-old made his debut for Celtic’s under 20’s, Dembele’s ascension continued after being called up Scotland’s under 16 for the prestigious Victory Shield yesterday.

Will Dembele be the next big thing? Nobody can answer that because the kid is 13-years-old for christ sake!

However, judging by the video below, it will be fun watching his progress….

  • Touchline footage confirms Antonio Conte can’t sit still for a second

Touchline footage confirms Antonio Conte can’t sit still for a second

    antonio-conte-touchline-footage
So who covered the most ground at Stamford Bridge yesterday during Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Leicester City? Matic? Drinkwater? How about the relentless runner Kante?

Well, judging by the footage below, a more likely candidate might be Chelsea Manager Antonio Conte. In a time-lapse video captured from the stands, Conte can be seen prowling every inch of his technical area and beyond. The Italian also showed that he can kill a ball dead even if he is wearing a pair of fancy leather shoes.

As you can see from the video below, It’s exhausting just watching him.
