Jamie Carragher heard of the news that Liverpool had dispatched of their manager Brendan Rodgers on live TV following the Merseyside derby.
After getting over the initial shock, and comforted by the Thierry Henry’s sympathetic hand on his knee, Carragher then gave his opinions on Liverpool’s decision to sack Rodgers.
Carragher said that Rodgers was perhaps fortunate to stay on after last seasons disappointments, but reserved the majority of criticism for FSG, the Liverpool ownership. “They’ve made a lot of decisions that haven’t worked” scoffed Carragher, adding: “The decisions the owners of the football club have made over the past two to three years are miles off.”
Carragher will now have to wait and see if the Liverpool owners are on target in their next decision: appointing Rodgers’ successor.
