Welcome Frank Lampard. #NYCvTOR https://t.co/X9RdM8I2BC

It may not have been his cleanest of strikes, but former Chelsea man Frank Lampard is off the mark and up and running for new club New York City FC with his first goal.
Playing against Toronto FC at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday evening, an unmarked Lampard chested down a loose ball just inside the box, before forcing home a half volley. Lampard was due to start playing for New York City FC on the 1st of June. This was then delayed to the 1st of August due to injury. The terms of his contract with New York City FC were, initially, confusing, with criticism aimed in New York City FC’s direction after it was revealed that Lampard had only signed a non-binding “commitment” contract, whereas NYC FC had claimed he had signed with them permanently for PR reasons. Lampard is one of many English footballers to come and join football teams in the states; David Beckham is another example, who joined LA Galaxy on the 11th of July 2007.
Will all of these Englishman change the face of MLS? Only time will tell. They might even change the landscape of MLS betting. We will have to keep an eye on MLS previews at Bet Today USA to find that one out. In the meantime, congratulations to Mr Lampard on his first goal for New York City FC!
Special mention to New York City FC’s Patrick Mullins who did everything he could in his powers to try and pinch Lampard’s first goal but thankfully, for all concerned, just about failed.
