John Oliver on Singapore’s World Cup gambling ad backfire

Comedian John Oliver has followed up his FIFA rant with another football related bit on his US show ‘Last Week Tonight’ looking at Singapore’s backfiring anti-gambling ad campaign that aired during the World Cup.

Singapore’s National Council on Problem Gambling released an ad during the World Cup based on a fictional story where a boy laments his father betting his life savings on Germany winning the World Cup.

A slight back fire on a well-intentioned ad, given that Germany as we all know went on to become World Champions.

After the ad Oliver cries “yeah but Germany won kid! Your dad’s the greatest!” and then explains that the organisation did make a second ad saying that the kid’s father always wants to bet one more time.

Of course, the point of the ad is to highlight the fact that, for gambling addicts, winning is never quite enough, and they always have to bet one more time, even if they did win big on something like the world cup. Nowadays, since there are professional bettors like FIFA or AFL tipping experts to help with the whole betting scene, more and more people are involved in the whole betting scenario.

Countries like Britain seem to have brought online gambling service providers to put into effect a clause of self-exclusion with Gamstop. However, for people who would like to delve into gambling without restrictions, searching for ‘non gamstop casinos uk‘ might help them unlimited access to their desired poker games (amongst others of course!).

However, there are ways that people that enjoy betting can control their gambling and continue to have fun every time they place a bet. If you are somebody that likes to wager money on casinos not on Gamestop, it is crucial that you never ever put more money on the line than you are prepared to lose. This is why many people choose to use NEO betting and other forms of cryptocurrency betting in order to enjoy their gambling hobby, but not by placing their official currency down on a poker table.

This way, you can continue to bet simply as a way of earning some money on the side, while not feeling as if you have to earn back any of the money you’d previously lost.
