Manchester United put the embarrassment of losing to Danish side Midtjylland last week with a comfortable 3-0 win over Shrewsbury in the FA Cup on Monday night.
Unlikely goal scorer and captain on the night, Chris Smalling set United on their way before Juan Mata all but killed of any chances of a cup upset with a tasty free kick at the stroke of half time.
However, there were some offside shenanigans committed by United as Juan Mata stroked home his free kick. Three United players stood in an offside position, forming a wall behind the Shrewsbury wall to block the keepers view. The trick worked a treat, and at this point, I’m going to have to admit that I’ve given up understanding the offside rule.
However this guy has given his take on it, and if anybody should know he should.
@btsportfootball STvMU 2nd goal is offside because the MU attackers in an offside position clearly obstruct the goalkeeper's line of vision
