A new football league has been launched aimed at those who might be carrying a bit of extra timber since the last time they kicked a ball.
The initiaitive was started by 37-year-old Andrew Shanahan who wanted to offer an alternative to those Jan Molby’s out there looking to shed some weight. Shanahan himself can no longer compete in the league, which has a minimum BMI requirement of 30, after he dropped considerable weight while playing in the league.
“I started Man V Fat two years ago because I was morbidly obese and experienced first-hand the difficulties men face during weight loss.” said Shannan, adding “I was 17 stone in 2013 and now I’m just over 12 stone, but I was shocked at how little support blokes get for weight loss. There was no help for me, and all the classes seemed tailored to womens’ needs.”
The league is free to join and is funded and based in Solihull. I’m putting my hot tip behind ‘Inter Pies’ to take the title.
