Bunking back up at the familiar surroundings of AC Milan after a dreadful season at Liverpool, Mario Balotelli is once again on his “last chance at a big club” and showed a glimmer of what he is capable of during the Milan derby on Sunday.
Balotelli, on loan from Liverpool, came off the bench on the hour mark with Milan 1-0 down after Fredy Guarin’s fine strike had put Inter in the lead. And the Italian came within inches of clinching an equaliser for Milan after his shot from outside the box hit the post.
Ultimately, Balotelli’s effort off the post was the closest he came to grabbing an equaliser for Milan, as Inter went on to secure a 1-0 win. The test for Balotelli will be whether he can turn momentary flashes like this into something even close to consistent good performances.
Ex Juventus forward Sebastian Giovinco has been in great form for Toronto FC scoring 17 goals in 26 games so far this season.
The pint sized Giovinco however couldn’t prevent his side losing to New England 3-1 over the weekend but he did produce the party piece above as a little consolation.

Benjamin Mendy got the ball rolling for Marseille with their first of four goals so far against Bastia in Ligue 1.
The goal came straight off the training ground after a short corner worked it’s way out to Mendy lurking outside the box. Mendy picked his spot then curled home a lovely first-timer that kissed the underside of the bar on the way in.
Marseille are currently 4-0 up with 15 minutes left to play.

It’s early days in the Bundesliga season, but it looks like Dortmund might be getting back to what they once were after the travails of last season.
Dortmund sit top of the league ahead of rivals Bayern after maintaining their 100% record with a 4-2 away win at Hannover.
Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang sealed Dortmund’s fourth Bundesliga win of the season with a ballsy panenka penalty in the 85th minute, his second of the game.

They like football in Brazil. A lot. So much so that a game on a pitch that looked more like a gigantic puddle went ahead between Serie B sides Boa Esporte and Oeste.
Despite the ridiculous conditions, Oeste went on to wade their way to a 2-1 victory.

38-year-old Raul proves he’s still got some milage left in his legs with a quality finish for the New York Cosmos.
Raul’s 74th minute strike proved to be the winner as the Cosmos beat Jacksonville 1-0.
Benfica gave Belenenses a good spanking on Friday after sticking six past their sorry opponents. Jonas and ex Fulham flop Kostas Mitroglou both grabbed a brace, but perhaps the pick of the goals was Anderson Talisca.
From a good 30 yards out, Talisca stroked home a glorious curling effort to put the cherry on a top with the sixth goal of the game.
