You might want etch this time and date, as we witnessed a very rare moment of honesty in football this week, committed by Manchester United loanee Adnan Janazaj no less.
Playing during Dortmund’s 7-1 thrashing of Paderborn in the German Cup on Wednesday evening, Janazaj skipped free down the right wing only to be legged up by a covering defender. Now, when almost any other player would have taken the dive there and then, and rightly earned himself the free kick, Janazaj – in what seemed like slow motion – hits the deck twice like a new born deer getting his footing, but refuses to go down.
Fortunately, Janazaj is rewarded for his honesty and eventually the referee rightfully pulls it back for a free kick.
