CSKA Sofia fans show off impressive Star Wars themed tifo

    CSKA-Sofia-Star-Wars
For their Bulgarian Cup quarter-final against Sozopol on Wednesday evening, CSKA Sofia produced a pretty impressive Stars Wars tifo accompanied with a chant using the theme music.

Their intimidating army of storm troopers must have done the trick, as Sofia went on to win the cup tie 3-0.

    Watch the impressive choreography below.

Porto fans give their team a warm welcome home after Champions League elimination

Christ, surely playing in the Europa League isn’t all that bad!!

Porto fans turned up at the airport looking like they were ready to tear the team from limb to limb after there 2-0 loss to plucky underdogs Chelsea on Wednesday evening.

Now, I’m not one to advocate for violence, but if the Police weren’t there to seemingly hold back the irate Porto fans, what would have happened? Would they have actually attacked their own team? The nonplussed players seemed ready to call their fans’ bluff.

Augsburg keeper sly sabotages penalty spot before striker misses spot kick

Very sneaky this from Augsburg’s keeper Marwin Hitz as he tries his best to casually rake up the turf in and around the penalty spot without anyone noticing moments before Cologne’s Anthony Modeste stepped up to take his penalty.

Unsurprisingly Modeste went on to miss the penalty, slipping over just as he stuck the ball. The sabotage penalty proved to be decisive as Augsburg went on to win the game 1-0.

Hitz, for his trouble was billed €122.92 by the head of Cologne’s sporting venues. “With a wink, I like to pay my debts” soothed a repentant Hitz.

Preston beat Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor on Sunday to claim the bragging rights over their local rivals.

Those bragging rights took on a family theme, as Preston goal scorer Will Keane rifled his sides opening goal through the legs of his twin brother Michael Keane.

Plucky Chelsea now aiming for lofty top 6 finish says Jose Mourinho

After suffering their 8th defeat of the season following the 1-0 loss to Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, Jose Mourinho’s relegation scrappers Chelsea have softened their ambitions for the season.

Speaking after the defeat, Mourinho looking like a man in need of solid uninterrupted 24 hours of sleep, claimed a top six finish was now the more likely target for Chelsea.

Beyond the top 6 target, Mourinho made the usual pointy fingers at the ref as well as making a somewhat coded suggesting that not all of the personalities were up for the scrap. Now who could he be referring to? We’re looking at you Diego.

    Watch Jose’s post-match interview below.

A Spanish third division side are fully taking the piss out of Real Madrid who have been chucked out of the Copa del Rey after fielding a suspended player.

Merida, who take on Cadiz – the side Madrid were playing when they committed the blunder – have tied up suspended player Johnatan Monago Vila just to make absolutely sure they don’t fall to the same fate as Real.

You never can be too careful. Top work Merida. Watch the video below.

Krisztian Nemeth wins MLS goal of the year with solo beauty for Kansas

Twisting this way and that, Sporting Kansas City forward Krisztian Nemeth has won the MLS goal of the year with a fine solo effort vs Portland following a fan vote.

Not a bad effort, but my personal favourite goes to Toronto FC’s Giovinco for this superb individual goal.

FIFA acting president nods off during his own press conference

FIFA press conference just aren’t what they used to be. Not so long ago, you had Sepp Blatter keeping things lively with a wildly inappropriate comment or by falling off of a stage. Good times.

However, with Sepp busy barricading the doors to an underground bunker somewhere in Zurich as the FBI circle, Issa Hayatou has stepped in as acting president but has fallen some way short of the lively antics we’d expect from FIFA’s top suit and has gone instead in a more subdued direction.

During his own press conference this morning, when FIFA was announcing reforms following the scandals that have swallowed up footballs governing body, it all proved to be a bit too much for Hayatou as he decided to take 20 winks.

Perhaps he was tired after being woken up by the early morning raids at the Baur au Lac Hotel during which more high level FIFA officials were arrested.

    It’s tiring work Hayatou.
