    Cavani-goal-PSG-Chelsea

Oooff. What a pass. The kind of pass from a player that a team such as Manchester United could really benefit from having in their ranks. If only they had someone who was capable of such a pass. Oh, wait.

Admittedly, Angel di Maria’s moments of magic while at Old Trafford could probably be counted on one hand. At the Parc des Princes however, Angel di Maria looks to have recaptured the kind of form expected of him, and his pass for Edinson Cavani to clinch a 2-1 win in PSG’s first leg Champions League tie with Chelsea oozed class.

Watch di Maria’s brilliant pass, and all the goals from PSG’s slender victory over Chelsea in the video below.

Russian side Rubin Kazan took on Amkar in friendly over in Spain during the weekend, and proved they’d go to pretty extreme measures to secure a win.

Harnessing mother nature, Kazan tried to literal move the goal posts as their keeper attempted a goal kick.

The wind assisted tactics didn’t go unnoticed however, and, watched over by a keen-eyed referee, a couple of players were forced into begrudgingly moving the goal posts back to their rightful positions.

Real or fake? Surely Dele Alli can’t be this accurate?

Score a couple of worldly goals and like Dele Alli you will soon have a sports apparel conglomerate knocking at your door ready, to give you bundles of cash if you endorse their latest fancy footwear.

In the video below, Spurs starlet Dele Alli nonchalantly picks off an unsuspecting victim who’s in the middle of an interview a good 60 yards away.

It’s likely fake, but that’s not the question we should really be asking ourselves here. No, really we should be asking why on earth is Dele Alli not waving at the end of the video??

If Liverpool fans need inspiration for any future protests against rising ticket prices, then they need look no further than Borussia Dortmund.

Ahead of their cup game against Stuttgart, Dortmund fans boycotted the first 20 minutes and then caused the game to be halted after throwing what looked liked Wimbledon’s entire inventory of tennis balls on to the pitch.

The Dortmund fans were protesting ticket prices, with a quarter of away tickets for the game costing £55. Which makes you wonder what they would be throwing if they were faced with the kind of prices Premier League fans have to swallow.

Watch the footage in the video below. Oh, and despite the disruptions, Dortmund managed to win the game 3-1.

Leaping like the proverbial salmon, West Ham’s Angelo Ogbonna scored a glorious header right at the death of extra time to secure a dramatic 2-1 win in his sides FA Cup replay with Liverpool.

With the scores level at 1-1 after Coutinho’s cheeky free kick had cancelled out Antonio’s tasty volley, the game looked like it was destine for penalties. However, Lucas Leiva gave away a needless free kick in the final seconds of extra time, and Liverpool once again proved that they really don’t fancy defending set pieces. Dimitri Payet floated in a teasing cross and Ogbonna planted a firm header back across goal, leaving Mignolet with not a hope of sending the game into penalties.

    Watch Ogbaonn’s glorious header below.

Making his comeback from injury, Coutinho equalised for Liverpool during their FA Cup replay vs West Ham with a rather cheeky effort. Awarded a free kick on the edge of the box, making it difficult to get it over the wall and under the bar, Coutinho instead stroked his free kick under the wall as it leapt.

Off with his head! The Premier League gets a new logo

From the start of the 2016-17 season, the Premier League will have a shiny, bright new logo to show off and will no longer have a sponsors name attached to it, not that anyone outside of football’s corporate bubble was ever calling it the “Barclay’s Premier League.”

    The current Premier League logo.
The current Premier League logo, just look at that ball control.

The new logo gets rid of the lion with his paw on a football – he wasn’t fooling anyone, we all know lions can’t trap a football with such a regal confidence. As way of punishment for the lion getting ideas above his station and thinking he could mix it with the best talents in the league, his severed head now serves as the focal point of the new logo.

“We are very pleased with the outcome,” honked Premier League suit Richard Masters, “a visual identity which is relevant, modern and flexible that will help us celebrate everyone that makes the Premier League.

“We look forward to sharing more details of our new positioning in the coming months.”

Any new logo that drops the corporate association can’t be a bad thing, and the redesign could have been a whole lot worse. Just look at the new logo for the Football League, which resembles a new washing detergent… or is it a nuclear energy company?

As for the Premier League, the logo design has actually changed a number of times over the years. By definition, the Premier League is a private company wholly owned by its 20 Member Clubs who make up the League at any one time. Therefore, like with any business, it is important that their branding is effective and this all starts with a good logo. This is the first time there has been a big change in the design of the logo though, as it has now been simplified, with an injection of colour and the removal of any sponsorship.

If your business is in need of a new logo, you could use a logo maker to design your own. You’d almost definitely do a better job than those who created the Football League logo…

American Football or ‘real’ football, which one will Neymar choose?

Ohh he had you tricked there didn’t he? For a moment you panicked and thought he was going to boot the American football didn’t you?

Rightly, when ever Super Bowl rolls around, football collectively decides it’s time to bring it up a notch or two in the general smugness and superiority levels. Neymar’s ‘real’ football jab is just about as smug as one could hope.
