Swedish Champions Malmo welcome Real Madrid to the Swedbank Stadion on Wednesday evening and have been making some subtle pitch adjustments to try and make life as difficult as possible for their illustrious visitors ahead of their Champions League clash
Staying within regulations, Spanish website AS report about a metre has been shaved off each wing to make the pitch narrower. The cunning plan is one of containment, the theory being that Rafa Benitez’ men will prove less creative if they are physically denied space to exploit.
You can’t blame Malmo for trying every possible trick in the book to try and thwart Real Madrid. We’ll find out on Wednesday if they succeeded in cramping Real Madrid’s style.
