Brazilian ref pulls out a gun after being attacked by players

Referees getting physically abused is unfortunately nothing new of course, especially in South America. However, one ref in Brazil decided that he had had enough abuse during an amateur game and pulled out a gun when the players started getting a bit too lairy.

Globo reports that the ref was slapped and kicked after trying to send off a player. The referee Gabriel Murta, which according to the Mining Football Federation is military police officer then, went to the changing rooms to get some back up in the shape of his gun.

Fortunately, the irate ref was held back from letting off any rounds by his assistants. So, the next time you lay into a ref for some perceived injustice, be weary that he might come packing!
