“I’d swap all my goals for winners medal” quips a socks and sandals wearing Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney took full kit w@nkery to a new level yesterday. Speaking live in the studio with manager Roy Hodgson following England’s routine victory of minnows San Marino, Wayne Rooney presumably didn’t have time to change and instead went for a socks and sandals combo.

Fashionista Rooney had been collared to talk in the studio after making history with his 49th England goal, equalling Sir Bobby Charlton’s record.

England take on Switzerland at Wembley on Tuesday, and many are hoping that Rooney breaks the record and becomes his nations leading scoring in front of his home fans. However, a humble Rooney insisted that he’d soon swap all his goals for a winners medal at international level.

If and when Rooney breaks the record, it must be insisted that he brings out the socks and sandals look for the victory parade.
